    The History of Christman Lake

In 1952, Carl W. Christman and his wife, Jean R. Christman, bought a farm in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, 3 miles south of the little town of Lenhartsville.  In the early sixties, standing atop a hill, while overlooking his cattle across the vast valley that lay before him, Carl had a vision to dam up the valley on their farm and build a lake.

With little more than 2 years of Engineering and Planning, the construction of the lake began.  By 1967, the construction of the lake was complete.  It was the beginning of something phenomenal.  Christman Lake became the neighborhood meeting place for picnics and gatherings.  A place for folks to enjoy boating, water- skiing, fishing, camping, shows, ice skating, ice fishing and so much more. Through the years, Christman Lake has become a unique and popular meeting place where friends and family can join together for good times and lasting memories.

By popular demand, many that frequent Christman Lake began leasing lots to enjoy the seasonal lifestyles.  Some built chalets, cabins or parked camper units on the lots.  By the mid 1980’s, the second generation of the Christman Family began managing Christman Lake.  In the early ninety’s, Christman Lake underwent extensive Engineering and Planning for a “state-of-the-art” central sewage treatment system (the Project) to service the residents of the Christman Lake Community.

Once popular for the campground community, Christman Lake is emerging with a new image, a Ritz-Craft Manufactured Home Community Resort.  It’s all about lifestyle!  A maintenance-free, resort style living for the active adult, amidst the pristine waters of a 40-acre lake.  Surrounded by quaint villages, local eateries and attractions, Christman Lake is a fun sort of place that prides itself on friendly service and quality living in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country and the charm of scenic Berks County.
